Concerning the Ghetto Bus Tour

Dear Beauty,
Once again you have decimated the stereotypes in the heads of my very insulated suburbia students!
They were so impressed with your tenacity and your bubbly personality.
They have so much respect for you and your struggle for dignity in the lives of the CHA residents.
They learned so much, more than I could ever teach them.
Keep on keeping on!
I thank you so much! I'll be in touch!

Beauty Turner Passed away Monday Night, December 15th 2008.

Turner, 51, was a former resident of Robert Taylor Homes who dedicated herself to telling the stories of the city's most vulnerable citizens.
"My mother was a gift for the world, a gift for all people," said Landon Turner, her youngest son. "If you couldn't speak for yourself, or fight for yourself, my mother would make sure your voice was heard."

In recent months, Turner focused on "Beauty's Ghetto Bus Tours," three-hour guided tours through the South Side, which include visits inside the homes of present-day public housing residents.

Funeral arrangements were pending Thursday evening.

You will be missed.
